      2015 Group News

            December: Longyu Zhao presents at MRS Fall 2015 in Boston, MA. The title of his talk is "Characterization of Coolant Flow and Heat Transfer in Topology Optimized 3D Woven Lattice Materials".

            Octobor: Longyu Zhao, Alex Kinsey and Kyle Slusarski present at the 2015 MS&T Conference in Columbus, Ohio. Longyu's talk "Fluidic and Thermal Properties of Topology Optimized 3D Woven Lattice Materials" has been selected as GEMS (Graduate Excellence in Materials Science) Sapphire Award.

            September: Kyle Overdeep presents at the departmental seminar on Sep. 23rd at 1:30 pm in Maryland Hall 110. The title of his talk is "Reactive Metal Nanolaminates for Bio-Agent Defeat".

            August: A paper that Longyu Zhao co-authored: "Topology Optimization of Fixed-Geometry Fluid Diodes", has been selected by the Journal of Mechanical Design as featured article. Congratulations!

            August: The Weihs Group recruits a new graduate student, Elliot Wainwright, to work on the newly funded DTRA project. Welcome on board!

            April: Mike Grapes, Nick Krywopusk, Longyu Zhao, Yong Zhang and Thomas Voisin present at the 2015 Mach Conference in Annapolis, Maryland.

            March: Longyu Zhao defends his thesis proposal at the departmental seminar on Mar. 11st at 1:30 pm in Maryland Hall 110. The title of his talk is "Characterization of fluidic and thermal properties of 3D woven lattice materials for heat exchange applications".

            March: Nick Krywopusk presents at the departmental seminar on Mar. 4th at 1:30 pm in Maryland Hall 110. The title of his talk is "Multi-Characterization of thermomechanically processed 99.9% pure magnesium and AZ31B by EBSD".

            March: Dr. Shashank Vummidi Lakshman joins the Weihs Group as postdoctoral fellow from NJIT. Welcome!

            February: Dr. Robert Cook from NIST is invited to present at the departmental seminar on Feb. 4th at 3 pm in Maryland Hall 110. The title of his talk is "Multi-Scale Effects in the Strength of Ceramics".

            January: Prof. Weihs invites the whole Weihs Group to play duckpin bowling and have burrito dinner at his house. A perfect way to kick off the semester!
