            November: Shane Arlington and Ju Xue attended the Fall 2018 Materials Research Society (MRS) Conference. They each shared their work in oral presentations.

            November: Beatriz Medeiros was featured in JHU Engineering magazine for her work with Suhas Prameela in processing Mg alloys for lightweight body armor. Congratulations, Beatriz!

            July: Suhas Prameela represented the MEDE project at Mg 2018 conference, UK and gave a talk on ECAE processing of Mg binary alloys. He also gave an invited talk at University of Manchester on Dynamic Precipitation in Mg alloys.

            June: Jesse Grant, Shane Arlington, and Elliot Wainwright attended the 2018 Energetic Materials Gordon Research Conference to share their work. During the conference, there was a small Weihs group reunion! Pictured below from left to right: Elliot Wainwright, Kyle Overdeep, Greg Fritz, Robert Knepper, Shane Arlington, and Jesse Grant.


            May: Steven Sosa and Michael Tershakovec graduated with their Masters degrees in Materials Science and Engineering. Congratulations, and good luck!

            May: Suhas EP won the Engaged Scholar Graduate Student Award, from the JHU Center for Social Concern. This award recognizes Suhas' commitment to community engagement and enriching the undergraduate student experience. Congratulations, Suhas!

            May: Shane Arlington was awarded a fellowship from the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He will be working with former Weihs lab member, Dr. Greg Fritz at Draper. Congratulations, Shane!

            April: Stephanie Hernandez and Beatriz Medeiros were both awarded Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP) Internshipd sponsored by the Army Research Office. Congratulations, Stephanie and Beatriz!

            February: Shane Arlington was recognized by JHU for winning the J.A. Woolam Company Scholarship from the Society of Vacuum Coaters Foundation (SVC). Shane also received a student travel grant from the SVC to attend their annual technical conference, where he will give a talk titled Nanocalorimetric Investigation of Nucleation in Thin Films.

            January: Elliot Wainwright was recognized by JHU for winning a Best Student Presentation award in the Advances and Upcoming Research Strategies in Reactive Materials symposium at the Fall MRS conference. Congratulations, Elliot!

            January: Prof. Weihs started his Fulbright fellowship, a 12-month sabbatical at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. Congratulations, Prof. Weihs - we'll miss you in Maryland!
