Dr. Elif Irem Senyurt joined the Weihs group in February of 2025 as a postdoctoral fellow. She completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where she focused on chemical agent defeat under elevated temperatures and the combustion products of reactive materials. Before coming to the U.S., she earned her M.Sc. and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), where she worked on mixed matrix membranes for ethanol dehydration.

She is currently working on designing reactive materials/alloys for chemical agent defeat.
